The name of the local Conservative Metro Mayor had the PM stumped this week as he visited our part of the world. So not only is the Tory man invisible locally, he’s clearly also failed to make an impact in Westminster.
Yet the role, up for election in May, has a big budget and powers over jobs, transport and homes.
Labour’s Dan Norris who is best placed to beat the Tories said: “The Tory Metro Mayor is a great answer for ‘Pointless’ but no good for Bath. It’s time for new leadership.”
The West of England Initiative which represents businesses has also called for a higher profile Metro Mayor.
