“Government targets on environment disappointing and unambitious” says Dan Norris

Responding to the Government’s plans set out in today’s (18 May) speech by the Environment Secretary, Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “I’m disappointed by the government’s unambitious targets. But in the West of England we are up for a challenge and we will go further and faster leading the way getting to net zero by 2030 in our part of the world. I’m also concerned that the Government are giving their ministers near complete discretion to change targets on environmental protection on a whim. Any legally binding targets will not bite for nearly two decades.”
