Metro Mayor Dan Norris has been lending a hand in the kitchen at Kingswood Community Farm’s social enterprise café.
The Barn Café at Grimsbury Farm is growing thanks to a grant from the West of England Combined Authority, which the Metro Mayor leads.
The café is run by the Brandon Trust charity whose Chief Executive, Sue Porto, explained to Mr Norris how the money allowed the café to cater for more customers by expanding its outdoor seating with undercover pods, each of which can be used by to up to six people.
Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “All the summer rain we’ve become used to needn’t put anyone off heading off to the fantastic Grimsbury Farm, thanks to more undercover seating made possible by a grant from the West of England Combined Authority I’m proud to lead. And even more visitors will be able to refuel during their visit with some of the tasty treats produced by everyone working in the café.”
Sue Porto added: “The extra seating means Barn Café can shelter and serve more customers, which should lead to more job opportunities, and we are grateful to the West of England Combined Authority for its support.”
The Barn Café is a social enterprise providing both paid supported employment and employment training for people with learning disabilities and autism.
