Metro Mayor Dan Norris presented a national award to a Bristol-based organisation that helps people turn their lives around, when he called in to its Horfield offices.
The Restore Trust has been named ‘UK Social Enterprise of the Year Award 2021’ for its work supporting adults and young people across the West of England.
The Trust’s CEO, Suzanne Thompson, received the award from the Metro Mayor. She explained to him how Trust staff help people with complex needs relating to homelessness, mental health problems, drug/alcohol dependency and offending behaviour. They help them acquire skills and education and find employment opportunities.
Mr Norris, a former child protection officer, said: “The Restore Trust’s approach is all about helping people rebuild their confidence and motivation, giving them skills to help them change their lives for the better.
“I know from my own experience as a child protection officer in our area that this is much, much easier said than done, and it was interesting to find out how staff go about their transformative work.”
