We’re all going on a winter holiday – thanks to a Keynsham company

As Winter approaches and temperatures fall, Metro Mayor Dan Norris found out how workers at a Keynsham campervan conversion firm are meeting rising demand to install heaters in campervans.

Family-run Keynsham’s Apple County Customs report increased demand for products to make campervans warmer and cosier for weekend breaks.

Thanks to a grant from the West of England Combined Authority, which Mr Norris leads, they are now investing in a precision cutting device. It allows them to put intricate bespoke logos on items they install into campervans, with the help of computer-assisted design technology, opening up new lines of business.

Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “This Keynsham company are ensuring the Great British Staycation can happen all year round. Campervan owners who want to beat cold snaps are coming to Keynsham to get expert advice and fitting from this family-run business.

“I have learnt how as well as heaters, workers at Apple County Customs install everything from beds to pop-up roofs; from seating to sound systems. Everything including the kitchen sink, in fact.

“The pandemic sometimes made getting away for a break a real challenge, so it’s no surprise that so many people are determined to continue travelling when they can.

“It was interesting to learn about how the new kit is helping make these locally converted campervans stand out from the crowd.”
