Metro Mayor meets Bristol flower pot man

Metro Mayor Dan Norris visited Ecotribo as a plant pot with a difference goes on sale in Bristol.

The new pot which is made from 100% recycled fishing nets will mean that green-fingered gardeners can be environmentally green too.

The product is the brain child of Tyrone Probert founder of Ecotribo, which makes a range of products from recycled plastics recovered from the sea.

The eco-entrepreneur has invested in a ‘plasticpreneur’ machine thanks to a grant of £5,000 from the Combined Authority led by Metro Mayor Dan Norris.

Mr Probert will show the Metro Mayor how the machine recycles the plastic nets before he views the first batch of 200 pots.

West of England Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: ““This plastic’s gone to pot in a great way. What a brilliant range of products. I understand some of the plastic comes from the sea off the South West and Scottish coasts. It’s certainly better off as a plant pot! It’s sickening that hundreds of thousands of tonnes of plastic end up in our seas every year, so it’s good to see Ecotribo taking action to help clean our oceans and produce amazing, eco-friendly products.”
