Pick up a pumpkin

With Halloween fast approaching Metro Mayor Dan Norris found out about one of the best places for local people to source their seasonal squash as he grabbed a wheelbarrow to get pumpkin picking at Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park.

The Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park has a spook-tacular treat on offer with the return of their 40,000 strong Pumpkin Patch packed full of fruits of different shapes, sizes and colours. It’s the South West’s biggest pick your own Pumpkin Extravaganza!

Metro Mayor Dan Norris, who runs the West of England Explore Local campaign, met owner Doug Douglas to discuss how local attractions, including Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park, are vital to the region’s economy. Mr Douglas highlighted how the site’s award winning Scream Park attracts visitors from all over the country, pumping money into the local economy.

Willy Wonka style, hidden within one plump pumpkin is a golden ticket to win an £800 pumpkin necklace! The family friendly site is also offering Hallowe’en theatrical performances, a fire show, food tent with lots of yummy local produce, an apple cannon, pumpkin paintball and a brand-new funfair with dodgems sure to keep everyone entertained for hours.

Metro Mayor Dan Norris said: “What an amazing way to spice up your October. I’m sure lots of people will want to carve out some time for this. We really do have some great things to do right here on our doorstep. Let’s wrap up warm and get out there to rediscover all our amazing region has to offer this Halloween and beyond”.

The pick your own pumpkin patch is open throughout October.
